I’m Melanie Heller, a travel and underwater photographer based in Baltimore, Maryland. My work is shaped by my background studying both photography and marine science, bringing together a passion for visual storytelling and the ocean. After becoming scuba certified in 2023, I began focusing more intentionally on underwater photography and capturing moments both above and below the surface.

I first picked up a camera at age 12, but photography became a true passion later in high school and college. Growing up, my parents took my brother and me on trips across the U.S., often visiting national parks, which sparked my love for the natural world and photographing the outdoors. Studying abroad in Sorrento, Italy further fueled my passion for international travel and exploring new environments.

Since graduating from Jacksonville University in 2024, I’ve continued traveling with my camera, documenting the places I explore and expanding my portfolio through travel and underwater photography projects. I'm driven by the thrill of capturing moments that make a place feel alive and sharing the beauty of the world through my lens.
